Who are you ?

I am Yannick, 37, living near Bordeaux, France, music passionate. I run VOTU by myself, with the help of friends for the design part.
The label is not my job, it’s just something I do outside of my day-to-day job (which is to develop applications for your iPhone). I don’t plan to make a living out of it, the main purpose of it is to help bands release records on vinyl, and to break even / reinvest in the next releases.

Can you release my band’s new record / EP ?

I’m always up for discovering new music, so you can contact me at contact@voturecords.com.
A few things to check before contacting me :
– I only release vinyl records. No tapes or cds planned in the future, sorry
– I’m mainly focused on post-hardcore / screamo / indie-punk / post-rock, and related genres. Not that I only like this kind of music, but there are more bands than I can help in those genres, so I prefer to focus on that. If you’re an incredible folk singer, or hip hop band, or whatever, I’m flattered you consider this label but I won’t be able to help you.
– As mentioned above, I am running the label by myself, so I can’t have too many releases at the same time. Unfortunately it means I can’t say yes to everyone, but I will always answer you even to say no (and even if it sometimes takes a month). Since 2024, I’m slowing down the releases to focus on doing beautiful objects (record prices have increased a lot, so it’s best to have something worth your money). That will mean that I will have to reject even more submissions, sorry about it, nothing personal.

What are your shipping options ?

Whatever option you choose, all orders are packed inside a solid cardboard, sometimes with bubble wrap if needed.
Depending on where you live, you can use different shipping options :
– Colissimo (with or without signature) : This option uses the standard postal service, has a tracking number (provided to you via email when your order is prepared, so please check your emails and spams, and contact me if you didn’t receive anything), and also has insurance. If you have any issue with your order (damage, loss), contact me with photos (when appropriate) and I’ll take care of this.
– Colissimo Relay : This is the same as Colissimo, but the main difference is that it won’t be delivered to your home directly. It will be delivered to a delivery shop that you can select at checkout. This is why the shipping address is different from the billing address 🙂
– Mondial Relay (France and some European countries) : same as Colissimo Relay, but it offers less insurance (only up to 25 euros).
/!\ Be careful as you only have between 7 and 14 days to retrieve your package, after that period it will be sent back. Also, the default insurance is only 25 euros per package. They don’t screw up often, but when they do be aware of this. Also, if you see any damage to the package, don’t accept the package, otherwise the insurance cannot be used.
/!\ During Christmas period, I do not recommend using this option (especially if you use delivery relays). Packages can get lost, or relays get be full, so the delivery is sent to another relay that can be inconvenient.

What are the payment methods available

You can order using several payment methods, the main ones being :

• Paypal : if you already have an account, just log in to your Paypal account and pay with it
• Woopayments : offers the opportunity to pay directly via card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and more
• Cash on delivery : only available for people leaving nearby, do not select this one without contacting me first please 🙂

Do I need to create an account when I order ?

Accounts are optional, because I know we already have way to many accounts everywhere. You can sign up to the monthly (or less) newsletter at checkout to stay tuned with the label and distribution news.

When will my order ship ?

I often try to send the orders as soon as possible (1 or 2 days after they are placed, except for preorders of course). But as I mentioned before, this is not my main job, so it can take some more time. Please be indulgent if it takes longer.

Is my order final ?

When you place an order, it is final. I know some unexpected events can happen in life and you might need to cancel to get a refund, but bear in mind :
– this is extra work on my side (which if I could avoid, it’s best)
– Paypal doesn’t refund the fees in case of refund. So if you cancel your order, Paypal fees WILL NOT be refunded. As mentioned before, this is not my day job, and I’m already putting too much of my personal money in the label. So I can’t afford to lose money on cancellations, sorry about that.
So when you place an order make sure that you won’t change your mind 2 days later.
